A Few Words On Why I Created Check Cherry

It started with a passion

I've always had a passion for music and great people. Local Boy, my first company, specializes in DJ and Photo Booths. Others hire us for weddings, schools and private parties.  If you're reading this post, you're likely we;; familiar with the business. It's been a great fit for me and I'm really proud of me and the team have accomplished at Local Boy. 

More events, more busy work

However, as the business grew, so did the busy work. Such administrative tasks are not my passion and definitely not what gets me out of bed in the morning. One day I came into the office excited to work on preparing for an upcoming event, but I ended up spending the whole day on paperwork.

I wanted to work on my passion and do less paperwork. I was already using every event manager out there: patching together multiple services and spending a lot money each monthly. Worse yet, those solutions did not ultimately solve my problem. I was fed up and began to search for a better way. I started the search for my dream service and I came up empty handed. 

So I hired a team

I contracted a local software development company specializing in Ruby on Rails and we started building out custom solution. These guys were awesome and did a great job. The collaboration was top notch and we created a first iteration of what would eventually become Check Cherry.

Within months of launching the new custom solution, on my website there was a huge difference in several aspects of my business. Here is a quick run down:

  • We booked more events than ever
  • We spent less time on low quality leads (we display pricing online)
  • We had more time to focus on our customers
  • My clients love the self-service aspect of my business and for those who do not care to use it, we have ample time to work with them individually.
  • My team loves the platform. We know where the data is and who is suppose to be where. No more generating invoices!

The platform worked extremely well

I dawned on my: others could benefit from what we've created. As a result, I teamed up with the guys who designed the software and after some more coding, Check Cherry was born.

I'm a hands-on business owner

I always have been hands-on and I think it's one of the my keys to success. With Check Cherry, I may not write the software, but I know the platform better than anyone: even Matt and Judd.

Currently, I'm the front line for customer support. One aspect of building Check Cherry that I enjoy most right now is getting to know a lot of hard working photo booth entrepreneurs.  We've designed Check Cherry to help others grow their business and operate more effectively. I love the idea that our photo booth software enables people to make more money and have more time to do other things like spend time with family. 

There has been a lot of feedback
