When a customer pays you by credit card through Check Cherry Payments, the funds don't arrive in your bank account instantly. They go through a short processing period before being deposited. This article explains how payout timing works and where to check on your funds.
How payout timing works
After a customer makes a credit card payment, the funds are held briefly while the payment processor verifies the transaction and transfers the money to your bank. This typically takes 2 to 3 business days.
Why payouts aren't instant
Credit card payouts involve several steps between the customer's bank and yours. The processing time exists for two main reasons:
- Fraud and dispute protection — The payment processor holds funds briefly to verify the transaction is legitimate and reduce the risk of chargebacks.
- Bank processing — Transfers between banks go through clearing networks that operate on business days only. Weekends and holidays add time.
Payout schedule
The day your payout arrives depends on when the payment was made. Payments received before 4 PM PST begin transferring the next business day. Payments received after 4 PM PST are grouped with the following day's transactions.
