How Do I Charge by Guest Count?

Check Cherry can add a per-guest charge on top of your base package price. This works for any unit type: guests, square feet, acres, letters, dozens, and more.

ManagePackagesSelect a packagePricing & Scheduling

On the Pricing & Scheduling tab, find Charge by unit? and choose one of two options:

  • Yes, charge per unit — A single rate applies to every unit. Good for simple pricing like "$25 per guest."
  • Yes, charge by unit range — Different rates for different tiers. Good when you want to include a base number in the package price or charge differently at higher counts.

The Unit Name dropdown controls the label your client sees throughout booking, proposals, invoices, and contracts.

The per-unit charge is in addition to your base package price. If your package is $500 and you charge $45 per guest, an 80-guest event totals $4,100 ($500 + $3,600).

Tiered Pricing by Range

Most businesses want to include a base number of guests in the package price and only charge extra beyond that. The way to do this is to create a $0 tier for the included range, then add tiers above it for the additional charges.

For example, a bartending package that includes 75 guests:

Guest RangePriceWhat the Client Pays
0–75$0Included in the base package price
76–100$50$50 added to the booking
101–125$75$75 added to the booking
126–150$100$100 added to the booking
The $0 first tier is the key. Without it, every guest count would add a charge. If your package is $1,200 and includes up to 75 guests, set the 0–75 range at $0. A client selecting 76–100 guests pays $1,200 + $50 = $1,250.

Setting Up Tiers

On the Pricing & Scheduling tab, set Charge by unit? to Yes, charge by unit range.
Choose your Unit Name (e.g., Guest).
Click + Add Price Tier and set the minimum, maximum, and price. For your included tier, set the price to $0.
Add more tiers for each pricing level. Make sure ranges do not overlap and there are no gaps.
Click Save.
Ranges cannot overlap. If your first tier ends at 75, your next tier should start at 76.
