How do I secure my account?

Your Check Cherry account holds client data, payment information, and business records. We protect the platform on our end with encryption, secure payment processing, and strict access controls. There are also a few things you control that make the biggest difference in keeping your account safe.

Want the details on how Check Cherry protects your data at the platform level, including encryption, PCI compliance, and privacy? See our Security Overview.

Turn on two-factor authentication

Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds a second layer of protection beyond your password. When it is on, signing in also requires a one-time code sent to your phone, so your account stays protected even if your password is ever exposed.

ProfileTwo-Factor Authentication
Click your name in the upper right.
Go to your Profile.
Find Two-Factor Authentication.
Click Enable and follow the setup steps.
Enable 2FA on all admin accounts. Staff accounts with extended permissions should use it too.

Use a strong, unique password

Your password is the first thing standing between your account and everyone else. A few habits go a long way:

  • Make it long. A longer password is much harder to guess than a short, complex one.
  • Use it only for Check Cherry. Reusing a password from another site means a breach somewhere else can reach your account here.
  • Consider a password manager. It creates and remembers strong, unique passwords for you.

Give each person their own login

Avoid sharing one password across your team. Give every team member their own account instead. That way you can see who did what, and you can remove one person's access without disrupting everyone else.

Give people only the access they need

Not everyone needs full admin access. Use roles and permissions to give each team member only what their job requires. Fewer admin accounts means fewer ways for something to go wrong.

Remove access when someone leaves

When a team member leaves, archive their account so they lose access right away. If they ever used a shared password, change it.

Watch out for phishing

Check Cherry will never ask for your password by email or text. If a message asks you to log in or "verify" your account, do not click the link. Go to Check Cherry directly in your browser and sign in there.

Check Cherry also helps protect you automatically. After several failed sign-in attempts, an account is temporarily locked to block guessing. For more on how we keep the platform secure, see our Security Overview.
