How do I use Extra Categories?

Extra Categories let you offer additional selections during the booking process — things like song requests, equipment choices, or customization options. Unlike add-ons (which are complete services with their own pricing), extras are individual items within categories that clients can select to personalize their booking.

Creating Extra Categories

ManageBooking EngineExtra Categories

Depending on your account type, you can create 2 to 6 categories of extras. Once created, these categories will appear under your Manage menu, below the Backdrops section.

Go to Extra Categories.
Click New Category and give it a descriptive name.
Add items to the category — each can have a name, description, and price.
By default, new items are available with all your packages. To limit an item to specific packages, click Edit on the item.
When you create a new category, an example item is automatically created to help you get started. You can customize or delete this example item.

Enabling Extras on Packages

Creating extra categories is just the first step. To offer them to clients, you need to enable each category on the packages where it should appear.

ManagePackages(select package)Advanced
Go to Packages and select a package.
Click the Advanced tab.
Scroll down to find your extra categories.
Enable the categories you want to offer with this package.
Set the maximum number of items clients can select from each category.
Check the box to allow clients to skip the category during online booking (optional).

Each Category Has Its Own Settings

In a package's Advanced tab, each extra category appears as its own section. You can enable any combination of categories and customize the settings for each one independently.

Adding Extras to Add-Ons

Extra categories can also be enabled on add-ons, not just packages. This lets you offer additional customization options for specific services.

Create the extra items you want to offer with your add-ons.
Go to Add-Ons and select an add-on.
Click the Advanced tab and enable the extra categories you want to offer.

What Clients See During Booking

When clients book online, they'll see available extra items after selecting their package and add-ons. Each category appears as its own section, and they can select items based on the limits you've set.

Most businesses use 2-3 extra categories to avoid overwhelming clients during booking. Common categories include song requests, equipment upgrades, and timeline preferences.
