Check Cherry handles your one-to-one client communication, but for newsletters and promotions you need a dedicated email marketing service (see sending mass emails for the full picture). If that service is Mailchimp, the integration keeps your audience up to date for you. Connect it once, and your leads and clients flow into Mailchimp automatically, each one tagged with where they are in your funnel.
Connect your Mailchimp account
The sync start date is optional. When you set one, only leads and clients created on or after that date are synced. If your account has years of history, this is the easy way to keep old, stale contacts out of your Mailchimp audience. Leave it blank to sync everyone. You can change it later, and Check Cherry will re-run the sync with the new date.
How the sync works
Once you finish setup, Check Cherry scans your account and syncs two groups into your Mailchimp audience:
- Leads with an email address. Spam-flagged leads are skipped, and a lead who already booked syncs as a client instead, so you will not get duplicates.
- Client and staff accounts with an email address. Archived accounts are skipped.
From then on, the sync is automatic. New leads, new client accounts, and new bookings show up in Mailchimp shortly after they are created or updated in Check Cherry. There is nothing to re-run and no manual export step. If a contact seems to be missing, check whether they have an email address and whether they were created before your sync start date.
Each contact syncs with their email, first and last name, business name, phone, and address. These map to Mailchimp merge fields (FNAME, LNAME, BIZNAME, PHONE, and ADDRESS), so you can use them for personalization in your campaigns.
Tags
Tags are the most useful part of the integration, and the part most people miss. Check Cherry applies tags to every synced contact so you can segment your campaigns by funnel stage:
- CC Lead — the contact is a lead
- CC Proposal — the contact has a proposal
- CC Booking — the contact has a booking
- CC Admin and CC Staff — your own team accounts
- A tag with your brand name. If you run multiple brands on one account, each contact is tagged with the brand they belong to, so you can send brand-specific campaigns.
Tags update on their own as contacts move through your funnel. When a lead books, their CC Lead tag comes off and CC Booking goes on. Your Mailchimp segments stay current without any list maintenance on your end.
If you use a different email marketing service, you can still get your contacts out of Check Cherry: export your client list as a CSV and import it there.
